SFI was founded by Dr. Linda Metcalf and Elliott Connie to provide trainings to mental health professionals and agencies on how to use solution focused ideas to improve their work with clients as well as productivity in the office setting.

One of the passions for the SFI is helping professionals learn to apply the tenets of Solution Focused Therapy in their. To accomplish this, each spring season we conduct a 2 day symposium on Solution Focused Therapy. The symposium involves not only our staff, but we bring in a prominent mind in the world of SFT. During last year's symposium we were fortunate enough to Bill O'Hanlon present his work in a remarkable day of training. This year, we will be bringing in another significant contributor to the field, Dr. Bob Bertolino.

2010 Spring Symposium Keynote Speaker: Dr. Bob Bertolino

Dr. Bertolino is a Professor at Maryville University in St. Louis, MO where he teaches courses in Counseling and Family Therapy. He is also active in his comunity as a trainer and consultant with a primary focus on issues related to children, adolescents and families. He has written 11 books on topics related to Solution Focused Therapy, Solution Oriented Therapy, and Strength Based Approaches to Therapy. He is a remarkable presenter that is respected all around for his work, we are excited to have him speak at this years symposium.
